Job summary

Leidos seeks a Substation Protection & Control Engineer to design and plan protection projects for electric utilities up to 500kV. You will prepare one-line and wiring diagrams, perform studies, and ensure design quality while coordinating with clients and internal teams in a hybrid US-based role.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in protection/control design or field testing, strong communication skills, and willingness to travel to project sites including Portland, OR as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of substation protection/control design or field testing.
• Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings such as one-line and three-line diagrams; AC/DC schematic drawings.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with internal teams and clients to meet project needs.
• Willingness to travel to project/sites and Portland, OR office as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan substation protection and control projects for 12kV–500kV utilities.
• Prepare single-line, schematic, and wiring designs for substations.
• Perform studies and reports for transmission and distribution systems.
• Conduct quality control checks on wiring designs and develop Bills of Materials.
• Support full project lifecycle from scoping to final design and implementation.
