Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Physical Project Designer in Peachtree Corners, GA on a hybrid schedule requiring in-office work 3 days/week. You will design and review substation layouts, equipment plans, grounding, and conduit details with a team of engineers.

You will mentor staff, perform field walkdowns at client facilities, ensure designs meet codes, and contribute to cost-effective design solutions while coordinating with multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• 15+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize Equipment Details and clearance requirements.
• Ability to multi-task across projects.
• Ability to visualize 3D parts without CAD aid.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical reviews of vendor design deliverables and incorporate comments.
• Lead field walkdowns and interface with clients and contractors on issues.
• Apply codes and standards; contribute to quality system improvements.
• Mentor designers, drafters, and stakeholders in tools and processes.
• Review and supervise production of design deliverables.
• Assist with input calculations and ensure adequate inputs for design.
