Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Columbus, OH, seeks a Substation Physical Project Designer to join a project team of engineers and designers focused on high and extra high voltage substations; hybrid schedule requires in-office work 3 days per week.

You will lead preparation and review of substation drawings, perform field walkdowns, coordinate with clients and contractors, ensure code compliance, and mentor junior designers while delivering cost-effective designs.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• 15+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize Equipment Details, Phase to Ground and Phase to Phase Clearances.
• Ability to multi-task across projects.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical review of project team's comments on vendor design deliverables.
• Leads field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities; interfaces with clients and contractors.
• Guides application of codes and standards; contributes to quality system enhancements.
• Provides guidance to designers and drafters in design tools and client-specific tools.
