Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Substation Physical Project Designer to join a project team focused on high and extra high voltage substations. Hybrid in-office work 3 days/week and close collaboration with engineers is expected.

You will review and prepare detailed substation drawings and lead field data collection, while ensuring conformance to client standards and codes. Expertise in CAD tools and 3D visualization will matter.

Qualifications

• Essential: 15+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Advanced knowledge of drafting tools (AutoCAD and MicroStation).
• Ability to visualize electrical equipment details and clearances.
• 3D visualization ability without computer aid.
• Capacity to multi-task across projects and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review design deliverables for substation drawings.
• Perform field walkdowns and interface with clients and contractors.
• Apply applicable codes and standards to designs.
• Provide mentoring to designers and drafters.
• Develop cost-effective design approaches within budget.
