Sargent & Lundy in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to apply materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design knowledge to power transmission modifications and upgrades. You will create calculations, document designs, and prepare specifications as part of an engineering and design team.

Qualifications

BSCE or MSCE from ABET-approved program with strong materials/structural design background.
7+ years in structural engineering, preferably on electrical substation projects.
Effective client communication with technical detail.
Ability to perform site walks and attend scoping meetings.
Experience writing support documentation for structural calculations.
Ability to meet budgets and schedules with accuracy.
Knowledge of practical structural engineering applications and codes.
Experience with design tools and blueprints, models and calculations.
Proficiency in MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, RISA 3D, RISA Floor.
Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.

Responsibilities

Investigate, trouble-shoot, and solve structural engineering issues.
Perform structural analysis and detailed design of steel frames, concrete members, equipment, and foundations.
Develop integrated structural designs and supporting calculations.
Interface with the client and communicate technical information.
Prepare technical specifications for structural materials.
Conduct independent reviews of others' calculations and drawings.
Coordinate with engineers, PMs, client personnel, and suppliers for timely design.
Review existing facilities for upgrades and present findings and recommendations.
Engage in peer-learning through Communities of Practice.
