Sargent & Lundy in the Washington, DC area is seeking a senior structural designer to develop 3D structural layout drawings and lead cross-disciplinary design efforts. The role blends office collaboration with onsite field work, and mentors junior drafters within a rigorous engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• 10+ years in detailed structural design drawings.
• Proficient with 3D plant layout modeling software.
• Experience reviewing structural layout drawings of steel frames, concrete members, and supports.
• Ability to coordinate with engineering and design teams in power plant design.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural layout drawings in 3D models with multi-discipline teams.
• Design structural supports and foundations; troubleshoot design issues.
• Generate structural schematics using 3D tools.
• Lead coordination of detailed design phases for the integrated model.
• Mentor less-experienced drafters and provide design guidance.
• Coordinate field walkdowns with senior staff as needed.
