Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Design Engineering team in North America. This hybrid role supports large-scale site development, reclamation, and civil infrastructure projects across the Eastern US, with emphasis on earthwork, grading, and stormwater design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years' experience as a civil engineer.
• Proficiency with 3D civil site design using computer-based modeling applications (i.e., AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar).
• Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Leading civil engineering design efforts from proposal development and conceptual planning through final design and construction support.
• Serve as a technical lead and trusted advisor for project teams and clients, helping define design approaches, evaluate alternatives, manage technical risk, and deliver practical, constructible solutions.
• Reviewing and interpreting technical reports, maps, drawings, test results, aerial imagery, geotechnical information, hydrologic and hydraulic data, and other project-specific information.
• Using 3D civil site design software such as Autodesk Civil 3D or similar platforms to lead development of grading plans, drainage layouts, earthwork optimization, civil details, and quantity estimates.
• Overseeing drawing production, providing technical guidance to design staff, and reviewing work products for quality and constructability.
• During construction, responding to RFIs, reviewing technical submittals, supporting contractor coordination, evaluating field conditions, and implementing design revisions.
