Job summary

McGuireWoods LLP is seeking a Business Development Manager to partner with the Business Development Director and lead lawyers to drive the firm's Corporate & Private Equity practice and Private Equity Industry group. You will develop clear strategies, messages, and business plans, facilitate client opportunities, and collaborate across departments and geographies to identify revenue-generating opportunities.

The role emphasizes mentorship of junior staff, event leadership, and program execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in marketing, business and practice development in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of corporate, private equity, or financial sectors preferred.
• Event management experience in a business development context.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with department chairs to develop business plans, budgets, content marketing strategies, and drive client targeting.
• Lead BD elements for designated departments, including pursuing new business and retaining existing business.
• Coordinate deals and matter descriptions in the experience management system.
• Draft and implement BD plans for individuals, departments, practice groups, and key clients.
• Report on client program metrics, budgets, and industry trends to generate cross-selling opportunities.
• Guide lateral integration by reviewing clients and relationships and connecting teams across the firm.
• Provide messaging and differentiators for rankings and client materials.
• Support events, webinars, seminars, and speaking engagements with cross-team collaboration.
• Utilize CRM data to track goals and relationships, and update intranet content as needed.
• Mentor junior BD colleagues and foster cross-geographical collaboration.
