Job summary

McGuireWoods LLP has an opening for a Business Development Manager to support the Corporate & Private Equity practice and drive revenue opportunities across geographies. You will develop clear strategies, craft messaging, and collaborate with lawyers and BD teams to win client engagements.

The role emphasizes leadership in BD plans, event management, and cross-department collaboration, with a hybrid remote option and offices across several cities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field.
• At least 5 years of marketing, business and practice development in a law firm or professional services environment is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of corporate, private equity, or financial sectors is strongly preferred.
• Business development-focused event management experience.
• Experience managing and mentoring junior colleagues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal services into compelling marketing content.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with designated Chairs to develop business plans, budgets, content marketing strategies, and drive client targeting.
• Provide strategy for BD elements for designated department/teams, including pursuing new business and retaining existing business.
• Take lead on opportunities to pursue new business and lead lawyers and colleagues to position and execute RFPs, pitches, and client meetings.
• Spearhead collection of deals and matter descriptions in the experience management system.
• Draft and lead implementation of BD plans and programs for individuals, departments, practice groups, and key clients.
• Collaborate on key client programs, spearhead reporting and monitor industry trends to generate new business and cross-selling opportunities.
• Lead lateral integration efforts in assigned practice areas and track activity across the firm.
• Align budgets with strategic goals and provide best practices for budget development and management.
• Drive strategy behind seminars, webinars, receptions, sponsorships and speaking engagements.
