Job summary

McGuireWoods LLP invites a Manager of Business Development to join our Private Equity and Corporate practice teams in Washington, DC. You will partner with the BD Director and lawyers to devise strategic plans, messaging, and targeted opportunities to win and retain clients.

This role emphasizes cross-office collaboration and leveraging events, RFPs, and client relationships. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in law‑firm BD, strong communication skills, and a proactive, strategic mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business or related field.
• 5+ years of marketing, business development, or BD in law firm or professional services.
• Experience in corporate, private equity, or financial sectors preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with chairs to develop BD plans, budgets and content marketing strategies.
• Lead BD elements for designated departments, including pursuing new business and retaining existing clients.
• Draft and implement BD plans, programs, and client-focused communications.
• Coordinate client targeting, RFPs, pitches and event logistics with the BD team.
• Mentor junior colleagues and share best practices across geographies.
