Job summary

McGuireWoods LLP is seeking a Manager, Business Development for its Private Equity and Corporate practice in Austin. The role partners with the Business Development Director and leads lawyers to develop and execute strategies to generate revenue, including client targeting, messaging, and RFP/pitch execution.

The position supports cross-department and cross-geography initiatives, with a hybrid remote option and emphasis on leveraging technology and market insights to advance opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, business, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in marketing, business and practice development in a law firm or professional services environment is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of corporate, private equity, or financial sectors is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with department chairs to develop business plans, budgets, content marketing strategies, and drive client targeting.
• Lead BD elements for designated department/teams, including pursuing new business and retaining existing business.
• Position and execute winning RFPs, pitches, and client meetings with lawyers; oversee deals/matter description collection in the experience system.
• Draft and implement BD plans for departments, practice groups, and key clients; report on financials and industry trends.
• Mentor junior colleagues and coordinate cross-geography BD activities; manage messaging and events.
