Job summary

Alfred Benesch & Company is seeking a Railroad Track & Civil Review/Design Engineer for Public Projects. You will join a dynamic team within Benesch's Railroad Services group, contributing to design reviews, field inspections, and project coordination with PMs and engineers.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in railroad civil design or plan review and proficiency with MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRail Designer, plus strong communication and travel readiness. Hybrid schedule, multiple US locations.

Qualifications

2–5 years of Civil Engineering design or plan review experience for railroad projects.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Experience using MicroStation and InRoads and/or OpenRail designer.
Excellent organizational and communication skills to convey complex technical concepts.
Strong relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders.
Enjoy problem-solving and learning new technical skills.
Willing to travel occasionally to meet project demands.

Responsibilities

Work on behalf of railroad clients to protect ROW and operations and to deliver projects.
Provide constructive designs and review comments on challenging projects.
Help meet project deadlines on schedule and within budget.
Review design plans and collaborate with Project Managers and Design Engineers.
Complete project design plans and coordinate with Project Managers and Project Engineers.
Perform field inspections and provide reports for clients.
