Longroad Energy is seeking a Power System Engineer Intern for a hybrid role based in our Boston office. This paid internship runs 10–12 weeks in summer 2027, targeting college juniors entering their senior year, with onboarding, mentoring and exposure to department and company activities.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student at a 4-year college.
• Preferred major in Electrical Engineering.
• Course work in power systems (e.g., power system analysis, electrical machines, power electronics, renewable energy systems, energy markets & policy).
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Interest in Renewable Energy Industry.
• Strong written and organizational skills.
• Cover letter highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with transmission prospecting by analyzing grid maps, system data, and available capacity.
• Use tools such as TARA, PSSE, Google Earth, and Landgate to evaluate potential project locations.
• Compile and organize transmission and land data to support development decisions.
• Conduct research on transmission planning studies, queue positions, and system upgrades.
• Prepare summaries, maps, and visuals to communicate findings to the development team.
• Participate in team meetings and present progress on assigned tasks.
• Document methodologies and results to ensure knowledge transfer and repeatability.
