Job summary

Relias in Morrisville, NC, is hiring a Payroll Specialist for a hybrid role. You will process payroll, validate inputs, manage vendor master data, and ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations.

You will collaborate with HR, Accounting, and external providers to resolve routine issues, support year-end activities, and drive process improvements using approved automation tools while protecting confidential information.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll processing or payroll administration experience with hands-on responsibility for inputs, calculations, and records.
• Experience with payroll controls, confidentiality, deadlines, reconciliations, or audit-ready documentation.
• Experience researching payroll discrepancies and coordinating resolution with HR, Accounting, employees, or external providers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
• Knowledge of end-to-end payroll processing including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, timekeeping, off-cycle payments, and year-end activity.
• Knowledge of payroll controls and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Process scheduled and off-cycle payrolls with earnings, deductions, taxes, and adjustments to ensure timely payments.
• Review time records and HR changes for completeness and payroll impact; coordinate corrections.
• Validate payroll registers, variances, and tax jurisdictions; document review evidence.
• Create, update, and verify vendor master data and banking/remittance details.
• Support accounting with payroll funding, reconciliations, and period-end records.
• Assist with year-end reporting and compliance with HR, auditors, and external providers.
• Maintain process documentation and responsibly use automation tools.
