Job summary

Maxim Healthcare is seeking a Payroll Manager in Columbia, MD, offering a hybrid work arrangement. The role leads the payroll team and ensures accurate payroll operations while navigating federal and state regulations.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in finance or HR and at least five years of payroll supervisory experience, with proficiency in ADP and Microsoft Office. CPP is a plus, and strong leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in finance, HR, or related field and at least five (5) years of payroll supervisory experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of various payroll software systems, preferably ADP.
• CPP preferred.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, required.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Experience as an accomplished leader in a payroll department.

Responsibilities

• Manages Payroll staff.
• Ensures timely and accurate preparation and administration of payroll operations.
• Interprets employment policies, government regulations, and federal and state taxing authorities in connection with payroll activities, and makes recommendations to senior management.
• Maintains payroll records, reports, computations, and audits.
• Interfaces routinely with HRIS on developing payroll applications that ensure internal controls, and facilitates the implementation and maintenance of payroll and HR master files.
• Provides periodic analysis of payroll records to ensure that adjustments are in compliance with company, state, and federal criteria.
• Provides leadership to team.
• Performs other duties as assigned/necessary.
