Job summary

Patient Funding Alternatives is hiring a Patient Advocate Specialist to identify and enroll eligible hospital patients into the HIPP program. This hybrid role blends outreach with on-site work at MercyOne Children's Hospital a few days per week, focusing on patient education, enrollment, and ongoing eligibility coordination.

You will work from referrals, manage a caseload, and collaborate with state operations and benefits teams to ensure enrollment and sustained coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Full bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
• 2+ years in a patient-facing or customer-facing role with measurable outcomes.
• Ability to work independently on-site with limited supervision.
• Experience with CRM or case management systems; iPad/iPhone proficiency.
• Ability to pass hospital credentialing, including vaccinations and screenings.

Responsibilities

• Engage and approach eligible patients and families from hospital referrals and daily census.
• Explain HIPP clearly and compassionately; adapt communication to each family.
• Address hesitation and questions without pressuring anyone.
• Collect required authorizations and documentation for applications.
• Build trust with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
