Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) seeks a Nuclear Facility Electrical Project Engineer to design and upgrade electrical systems for nuclear facilities, supporting R&D projects, and ensuring DOE compliance. The role involves design, development, testing, and fielding of facility projects in the DTED.

The position may offer a hybrid schedule with some in-person and remote work one or more days per week. Candidates must be U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
• Master’s degree in electrical engineering preferred.
• Professional Engineering registration in electrical engineering in California or reciprocity.
• Comprehensive experience designing facility electrical systems including power distribution and lighting.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70, and related codes/standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement electrical designs for facility construction, upgrades, and modifications.
• Support development of project scope, design options, cost estimates, schedules, and constructability evaluations.
• Provide engineering input for DOE-compliant electrical systems in hazard category 2 facilities.
• Coordinate design activities with drafters, designers, contractors, and project teams.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, and field questions during construction.
• Prepare detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, estimates and work packages.
