Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA is seeking a nuclear facility structural system engineer to sustain the integrity of Hazard Category 2 and 3 building structures and provide system engineering support for operations, maintenance, and research activities.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with the possibility to work from home up to one day per week after a probationary period and reports to the Defense Technologies Engineering Division within the Engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or related field.
• Experience with structural engineering standards and practices (ASCE/ACI/AISC).
• Ability to obtain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the integrity and configuration of building structures to anticipate maintenance needs.
• Prepare logs, reports, and brief facility management on results.
• Identify spare parts inventory and ensure procurement.
• Provide engineering support for sustainment, repair, and modification of safety structures.
• Support R&D projects with safe, DOE-compliant solutions.
• Develop and implement solutions for moderate-complexity issues in operations.
