Job summary

HED is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our Chicago-based Mechanical Engineering team. The role emphasizes developing design documentation, performing calculations, and coordinating across disciplines with increasing ownership of design work.

You will primarily work in Revit to model HVAC, plumbing and fire protection components, supporting project execution and QAQC. A Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in the AEC industry are preferred, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in the AEC industry preferred.
• Revit experience required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce the mechanical sheet list for projects and set up the project in Revit.
• Collaborate with project engineers and other disciplines on system components.
• Model HVAC, plumbing and fire protection in Revit based on code and client requirements.
• Prepare redlines and delegate tasks to teammates as needed.
• Participate in QAQC and review mechanical submittals and RFIs.
• Attend client and project team meetings to coordinate requirements.
