Job summary

HED is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Designer to develop design expertise within a supportive, collaborative environment. You will learn system design fundamentals, project documentation, and interdisciplinary coordination while supporting senior team members.

The role focuses on hands-on learning, working primarily in Revit to model HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, and participating in internal and client discussions to define mechanical requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are expected for this role.
• Revit experience is preferred and beneficial for the workload.
• Detail-oriented, collaborative, and adaptable to deadlines are valued traits.

Responsibilities

• Model components and systems in Revit for HVAC, plumbing and/or fire protection based on guidance from a project lead.
• Set up mechanical project models and organize project data in Revit.
• Design, lay out, and coordinate mechanical equipment within rooms and plans.
• Engage in mentorship with lead engineers to learn the 'how' and 'why' of mechanical design for built environments.
• Collaborate with QA/QC and attend client or team meetings to discuss mechanical requirements.
• Assist in staffing estimates and time planning for assigned tasks.
