Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) is seeking an Applications Systems Specialist I (NS) to provide expert Microsoft 365 support and deployment services. This role includes high-level troubleshooting, policy review, and cross-agency coordination to optimize the Microsoft 365 Suite for state government.

The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and may include hybrid remote work with weekly onsite requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing, implementing, and supporting M365 services aligned with configuration standards, and roadmap alignment with Microsoft technologies
• Demonstrated experience independently handling complex M365 issues, performing deep technical diagnostics, and executing controlled change, configuration, and release management processes
• Experience coordinating and overseeing Microsoft 365 deployments across agencies while ensuring accurate configuration, billing fidelity, and strong security through comprehensive assessments, secure baselines, policy compliance, and tenant security guidance

Responsibilities

• Serve as the highest level of support in a technical support model responsible for handling the most difficult or advanced problems
• Perform high level troubleshooting of very technical and complex M365 issues.
• Act as a consultant to management in the review of policies, operations, controls, system development, and data communications and promote standardization across all implementations to lower the Total Cost of Ownership of the Microsoft 365 Suite to the state.
• Participate on Project Teams focusing on the Microsoft365 infrastructure systems to ensure information technology information issues are addressed.
• Implement new releases of service components into the operational environment following well-defined controlled processes of change, configuration and release management.
• Develop implementation and deployment plans and coordinate with agencies before and during the execution of the project activity.
• Ensure application availability, correct configurations and provide team oversight of Microsoft 365 Suite.
