Job summary

The State of North Carolina Department of Information Technology seeks an Applications Systems Manager I (NS) to lead an application development team and oversee enterprise applications across multiple platforms. The role guides the full lifecycle from requirements to deployment in an agile setting, with a focus on secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions.

Hybrid remote work may be available, but weekly onsite work is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT related field.
• Five years progressive experience including at least two years of programming and applications analysis or related work.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop an application development team while managing priorities, workloads, and performance.
• Serve as a working manager and lead developer for enterprise applications across multiple technology platforms.
• Guide the full software development lifecycle in an agile environment from requirements to deployment and support.
• Establish architecture, development, and governance standards for secure, scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Advance application modernization, platform consolidation, and technology improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with business units, DBAs, security and infrastructure teams, IT managers, developers, vendors, and executive IT leadership.
• Translate complex business and technical needs into practical recommendations for stakeholders.
