Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking a Loss Mitigation Specialist to educate borrowers on alternatives such as loan modifications and forbearances to retain homeownership. The role includes inbound/outbound calls, evaluating financial hardship, and coordinating with liquidation teams when needed.

The position offers a base pay of $23.00/hr with a monthly bonus and an additional $1.50/hr if bilingual in English/Spanish. A hybrid schedule is supported.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in collections, loss mitigation or call center within a mortgage servicing environment.
• Full State NMLS licensing required within 6 months of entering this job.
• Knowledge of mortgage industry terminology.
• Working knowledge of Government programs (FHA, VA, USDA, FNMA, FHLMC).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Handle inbound calls via IVR and transfers to assess borrowers' intent to retain property and discuss foreclosure alternatives.
• Outbound follow-up on loans in pipeline for trial agreements, repayment plans, and final modification documents.
• Communicate approval/denial of loss mitigation options and answer related account questions.
• Review hardship documents to determine best workout option (short or long term).
• Escalate denied cases to loss mitigation liquidation with borrower engagement as needed.
• Explain options to resolve delinquency, required actions, timing, and status of evaluation.
