Job summary

Aston Carter in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a Logistics Coordinator for a strictly temporary contract role. The position supports laboratory supply chain and requires hybrid work on-site Tue–Thu with remote Mon and Fri, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM.

You will manage kits, shipments, and documentation, coordinating with carriers and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include handling FedEx labels, carrier pickups, customs docs, and issue resolution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of logistics experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on experience with international shipments, including customs and documentation processes.
• Practical experience coordinating shipments with FedEx and other transportation providers.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
• Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving logistics issues.
• Experience in supply chain and logistics coordination, including shipment tracking and issue resolution.
• Accurate data entry skills and attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping.
• Experience with dispatch, freight, and third-party logistics coordination.
• Knowledge of transportation and inventory logistics, including inventory control and order entry.
• Administrative and clerical skills to support operational logistics and documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for tracking shipments, KPIs, and logistics data.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage shipping labels for kits and shipments.
• Coordinate pickups to meet operational timelines and deadlines.
• Provide carriers with shipping instructions and tracking links.
• Monitor shipment status and address delays or issues.
• Coordinate international shipments and customs documentation.
• Investigate missing or delayed kits and determine root causes.
• Open cases with carriers to resolve shipment problems.
• Maintain organized shipment and investigation records.
• Escalate critical issues to leadership when needed.
• Track logistics KPIs and identify recurring service issues.
• Communicate with carriers to resolve customs holds and clearance issues.
• Support regulatory compliance for import/export documentation.
