Everforth Apex Systems is looking for a motivated Junior Systems Administrator to support infrastructure and day‑to‑day operations in a hybrid Richmond, VA office. This entry‑level role will involve system monitoring, patching, and assisting with server deployments under senior staff guidance.

You will gain exposure to Windows and Linux environments, cloud concepts, and scripting with PowerShell while collaborating with a team focused on secure, reliable IT services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or closely related field or equivalent technical certification.
• Foundational understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs).
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server or Linux administration.
• Familiarity with cloud concepts (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
• Experience with scripting fundamentals (PowerShell).
• Internship or post‑college technical experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving basic system, network, and application issues.
• Support day‑to‑day operational tasks across Windows and Linux server environments.
• Perform routine maintenance such as patching, monitoring, and system health checks.
• Help deploy and configure servers, applications, and infrastructure components under senior engineer guidance.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and basic identity access requests.
• Assist with workstation setup, imaging, configuration, and support.
• Participate in documentation efforts for procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
• Provide first‑line escalation support for service desk issues requiring deeper technical investigation.
• Follow change‑management processes and ensure proper communication during updates or maintenance.
• Learn and grow by shadowing senior engineers on projects, implementations, and troubleshooting sessions.
