Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Manager of Account Management in Des Plaines, IL to lead a team of account managers in a fast-paced freight brokerage environment. You will develop strong client relationships, drive customer satisfaction, and oversee efficient logistics execution.

The role requires leadership, strategic thinking, and a customer-centric approach, with a base salary of $75,000–$80,000 per year and quarterly incentive eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years in account management, client services, or freight brokerage; at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Experience managing large/complex accounts in freight/logistics/transportation.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; conflict resolution abilities.
• Proficient in freight brokerage software, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Analytical mindset with data-driven decision making.
• Knowledge of transportation logistics, freight forwarding, and supply chain practices.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Account Managers to achieve goals.
• Provide performance reviews and development opportunities.
• Manage relationships with key clients and be the primary contact for high-value accounts.
• Identify and resolve client concerns with tailored freight/logistics solutions.
• Collaborate with operations, sales, and customer service to deliver best-in-class service.
• Analyze account performance and provide insights to improve service and profitability.
• Monitor SLAs, on-time delivery, and customer feedback.
