Job summary

Fuss & O’Neill in Woburn, MA is seeking an experienced Environmental Permitting Lead to guide Massachusetts natural resources permitting on a range of infrastructure and redevelopment projects.

You will lead permitting strategies from early planning through agency coordination, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, regulators, and clients, with a hybrid in-office/remote schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience managing environmental permit submissions under local, state, and federal regulations.
• Demonstrated experience with Massachusetts environmental permitting and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience managing permitting for ecological restoration, infrastructure repairs, bridges, culverts, dams or redevelopment.
• Strong project management and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; project management software a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Massachusetts natural resources permitting activities for multiple projects.
• Manage review, preparation, and submission of environmental permit applications.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, municipalities, clients and stakeholders to secure approvals.
• Develop permitting strategies and help teams understand regulatory requirements and impact on schedules.
• Develop and oversee budgets and schedules for permitting and natural resources work.
• Coordinate wetland delineations, field studies, and other investigations to support compliance.
• Support projects involving ecological restoration, infrastructure repairs, bridges, culverts, dams, redevelopment.
• Manage multiple permitting projects simultaneously while maintaining schedules, budgets, quality, and client expectations.
• Build relationships with state/federal agencies, municipalities, regional bodies and other stakeholders.
• Mentor and train early-career natural resources professionals.
