Job summary

Fuss & O’Neill is seeking an Environmental Permitting Leader to join our Water and Natural Resources team in a hybrid role based in New Haven, CT. You will lead Massachusetts permitting activities and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on infrastructure, restoration, and redevelopment projects.

You’ll manage permit submissions, work with regulators, and mentor junior staff while shaping permitting strategies and schedules to meet client needs and project goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources or related field.
• 7+ years of experience managing environmental permit submissions.
• Experience with Massachusetts environmental permitting and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience permitting ecological restoration, infrastructure repairs, bridges, culverts, dams, or redevelopment.
• Strong leadership and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of project management software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Massachusetts natural resources permitting activities, providing strategy and coordination for permitting
• Manage preparation and submission of environmental permit applications
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, municipalities, clients, and stakeholders
• Develop permitting strategies and educate teams on regulatory requirements
• Oversee budgets and schedules for permitting and natural resources work
• Coordinate wetland delineations and field studies to support permitting
• Support projects involving ecological restoration, infrastructure repairs and redevelopment
• Mentor early-career natural resources professionals
