Job summary

Fuss & O'Neill is seeking an experienced Environmental Permitting Leader to join our Water & Natural Resources team in Massachusetts. Lead permitting strategies, agency coordination, and regulatory compliance for diverse infrastructure projects while guiding multidisciplinary teams.

The role emphasizes MEPA, wetlands, and other MA environmental requirements, with hybrid work, strong project management expectations, and opportunities to mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience managing environmental permit submissions under local, state, and federal regulations.
• Demonstrated experience with Massachusetts environmental permitting frameworks.
• Experience managing permits for ecological restoration, infrastructure repairs, bridges, culverts, dams, or redevelopment.
• Strong PM and leadership skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead Massachusetts natural resources permitting activities, providing technical and project management leadership for strategy, applications, coordination and compliance.
• Manage review, preparation, and submission of environmental permit applications across varied projects.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, municipalities, clients and stakeholders to drive timely permit approvals.
• Develop permitting strategies and communicate regulatory requirements and potential schedule impacts to project teams.
• Oversee budgets and schedules related to permitting and natural resources work.
• Coordinate field studies, wetlands delineations, and other investigations to support permits.
