Job summary

Southern Company is seeking an Enterprise Data Architect for the Customer Data Platform (Azure Databricks Lakehouse) in Atlanta, GA. You will design and govern the CIS data ecosystem, guiding data engineers and stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure analytics capabilities across batch and real-time workloads.

The role requires 8+ years in data architecture with hands-on Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and data governance proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics platform engineering.
• Experience leading architecture reviews and multi-team delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end Lakehouse architecture, ingestion to consumption, including Delta Lake design.
• Lead near-real-time and batch CIS data replication and integration decisions.
• Guide data engineers on models, standards, and governance for analytics and reporting.
• Establish data quality, lineage, cataloging, and metadata standards.
• Design patterns for ML/AI within governance and security constraints.
• Mentor teams and maintain architecture roadmaps and reference architectures.
