Job summary

Southern Company seeks an Enterprise Data Architect for the Customer Data Platform on Azure Databricks Lakehouse. You will lead the design and governance of CIS data replication, security, and analytics, partnering with cybersecurity, data science, and business teams to deliver scalable, compliant data products.

This role requires 8+ years in data architecture, hands-on experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, and a proven ability to drive architecture

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in data architecture or analytics platform engineering.
• A minimum 3 years in a senior architecture or technical leadership role.
• Bachelor’s degree as specified.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture and strategic direction of the Lakehouse.
• Architect near-real-time and batch replication of CIS data with CDC and streaming.
• Guide data engineers on logical/physical data models and standards.
• Establish data quality, lineage, cataloging, observability, and metadata management.
• Design integration patterns for downstream analytics and regulatory apps.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance on access control.
• Mentor data engineers and maintain reference architectures and roadmaps.
• Optimize platform capacity and cost across Databricks and Azure.
