Job summary

Southern Company is seeking an Enterprise Data Architect to lead the Azure Databricks Lakehouse supporting CIS data. You will define architecture, governance, and roadmaps, ensuring secure, scalable data for analytics and regulatory needs across the enterprise.

You will mentor data engineering teams, collaborate with cybersecurity and business stakeholders, and drive adoption of standardized patterns and cost-effective solutions. Hybrid work with travel.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of progressive experience in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics platform engineering.
• At least 3 years in senior architecture or technical leadership role.
• Experience leading Azure Databricks Lakehouse architectures with Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture and strategic direction of the Lakehouse, including medallion design and Delta Lake implementation.
• Architect near-real-time and batch CIS data replication and decide on CDC and integration technologies.
• Guide data engineers on models, standards, and governance for BI, analytics, and data products.
• Establish data quality, lineage, cataloging, observability, and metadata management using enterprise tools.
• Design integration patterns for downstream applications and ensure security controls and resilience.
