Job summary

Southern Company seeks an Enterprise Data Architect to lead the Customer Data Platform Lakehouse on Azure Databricks. You will drive architecture, governance, and data replication strategies across CIS data, enabling scalable analytics and AI outcomes for a utility-scale environment.

You will mentor engineers, establish data quality and metadata standards, and partner with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure secure, compliant access.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field and 8+ years in data architecture or analytics

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture for the Lakehouse, ingestion to consumption
• Define data replication, CDC, streaming, and integration patterns
• Set data quality, lineage, metadata, and governance standards
• Mentor data engineering teams and drive architecture reviews
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance teams on controls
• Balance platform performance, reliability, and cost across Azure and Databricks
