Job summary

C.H. Robinson Worldwide is seeking a Customs Specialist to protect compliance and minimize risk while ensuring smooth shipments through customs clearance.

The role focuses on complex exceptions, government examinations, and high-impact issues, with on-site collaboration three days a week and remote work two days weekly. You will leverage regulatory expertise to support accurate clearance, drive improvements, and optimize automated processes, partnering with brokers and internal teams to ensure

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-3 years of entry-writing or international transportation experience; familiarity with AI Agents is a plus.
• Preferred: associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience with automation-enabled workflows or BPO-integrated operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and validate customs entry data for accuracy and compliance.
• Resolve complex customs exceptions including documentation gaps and valuation discrepancies.
• Manage government agency holds and customs examinations (CBP, FDA, CPSC, VACIS, CET, Tailgate).
• Interpret regulations and apply them across daily operations and automated processes.
• Prioritize critical shipment issues to prevent delays and maintain service.
• Partner with brokers, carriers, and internal teams for seamless clearance and delivery.
• Own customer-specific SOPs, HTS databases, and compliance requirements.
• Investigate cargo damage, insurance, demurrage, detention disputes, and other issues.
• Conduct quality reviews of entries and automated decisions for compliance and accuracy.
• Drive continuous improvement by enabling workflow enhancements and automation.
