Job summary

C.H. Robinson is seeking a Customs Specialist to safeguard compliance, minimize risk, and ensure smooth customs clearance for customer shipments. The role involves handling complex exceptions, regulatory reviews, and optimizing automated customs processes.

You will collaborate with brokers and internal teams to support accurate clearance and exceptional service. On-site three days weekly with two remote days, you will lead continuous improvement in customs operations, training, and SOP

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2–3 years of entry-writing experience, international transportation, or experience with AI Agents are needed.
• Experience with HTS, customs processes, or ABI/AMS queries is a plus.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with automation-enabled workflows or BPO-integrated operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and validate customs entry data for accuracy and compliance.
• Resolve complex customs exceptions and regulatory concerns.
• Manage government agency holds and CBP/ FDA/ CPSC examinations.
• Interpret regulations and apply them to daily operations and automation.
• Prioritize shipment issues to prevent delays and maintain service.
• Coordinate with customs brokers and internal teams for import clearance.
• Maintain customer-specific SOPs, HTS databases, and compliance requirements.
• Investigate cargo damage claims, insurance, demurrage, detention, and other issues.
• Conduct quality reviews of entries and automated decisions.
• Identify workflow improvements and support automation of operations.
