Job summary

Our client, a nationally recognized AmLaw 100 law firm, seeks a mid-level Business & Commercial Disputes Associate to handle complex litigation for a diverse national and international client base. Charlotte, NC location with hybrid work and meaningful courtroom exposure.

The candidate will join a leanly staffed team, gaining responsibility, direct client interaction, and opportunities for professional growth in sophisticated commercial matters.

Qualifications

• JD from top-tier law school with excellent academic record.
• Active North Carolina Bar in good standing; NC admission or prompt eligibility.
• 3–5 years of substantive commercial litigation experience.
• Experience managing complex business disputes in a sophisticated firm.
• Litigation across state and federal courts from inception to resolution.
• Experience drafting dispositive and non-dispositive motions.
• Capable of managing all phases of discovery including e-discovery.
• Restructuring, insolvency, or bankruptcy litigation experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional written and oral advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle substantive work on complex commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts.
• Draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions.
• Manage discovery, including written discovery and e-discovery coordination.
• Prepare for and conduct depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
• Support trial preparation, including witness preparation and exhibit management.
• Analyze litigation risks and business implications to advise on practical solutions.
• Communicate directly with clients and in-house counsel.
• Collaborate with partners, associates, staff, and cross-office teams.
• Contribute to case strategy throughout all stages of litigation.
