Qualifications

• High School diploma required; associate degree or 2 years of advanced education preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of medical coding experience, with a focus on primary care, rural health, or professional fee coding.

Responsibilities

• Account for coding and abstracting of patient encounters, assigning ICD/CPT/HCPCS codes.
• Ensure correct and properly sequenced codes per government and payer rules.
• Ensure all medical records are filed and processed correctly.
• Comply with medical coding guidelines and clinic policies.
• Review and verify patient charts for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
• Follow up with providers on any unclear documentation.
• Resolve work items in EMR revenue cycle queues.
• Maintain knowledge of changes in insurance plans for claims.
• Telecommute with up to 4 onsite days per quarter as needed.
