Job summary

Kahana Feld seeks an Accounts Payable Manager to lead the firm's AP operations, oversee invoice processing, payments, reconciliations, and internal controls. This role directs and develops the AP team, ensuring expenses are accurate, approved, paid on time, and recorded to the correct GL accounts or client matters.

You will collaborate with attorneys, administrative departments, and Finance to maintain strong controls and continuous improvement, with a focus on compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressively responsible accounts payable or accounting experience, including supervision.
• Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of AP controls, GL coding, reconciliations, and expense management.
• Experience with a legal accounting system, such as Aderant, preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with discretion for confidential information.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, from invoice receipt through payment and record retention.
• Review invoices for documentation, approvals, coding, and policy compliance.
• Coordinate payment runs and vendor inquiries with proper approvals and segregation of duties.
• Maintain vendor records and controls for setup, tax documentation, and payment instructions.
• Reconcile AP records and support month-end/year-end close, accruals, audits, Form 1099.
• Supervise and develop AP staff, set priorities, manage workloads, monitor performance.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Expense Manager for analytical standards and training.
• Oversee recording of client/matter expenses with Billing for proper cost recovery.
• Coordinate AP-related payments for employee reimbursements and corporate card transactions.
• Develop procedures and reporting to improve payment accuracy and visibility; work with Finance on controls and system/workflow improvements.
• Lead special projects.
