Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a hands-on HVAC professional to lead the truck-based service team, balancing technical work, customer communication, and field coordination. You will guide technicians in the field, ensuring quality outcomes at the time of service.

You will coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations, while coaching staff and supporting quotes, scheduling, and documentation. Strong communication and safety leadership are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Journeyman License.
• 5+ years of commercial HVAC or mechanical troubleshooting experience.
• Demonstrated field leadership experience and the ability to coordinate the work of other employees and contractors at customer sites.
• Valid driver's license.
• Appropriate licenses to work with refrigerants.
• Boiler and steam operational and service knowledge.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities in a field service environment.
• Accurate documentation habits and strong customer-facing professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day field activity for truck-based HVAC technicians and support the coordination of work at customer sites.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement of HVAC mechanical equipment and Building Control Systems.
• Provide Level 1 technical support and serve as an escalation point for more complex service issues.
• Coach and mentor branch technicians while supporting their technical development in the field.
• Support quoting, estimates, scheduling, service completion, and accurate project and service documentation.
• Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams to provide practical solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
• Provide safety leadership and instruction to technicians and subcontractors while ensuring work meets applicable state, local, and federal requirements.
