Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Truck Based Service Manager to lead the service team, manage assets, and drive profitability across the territory. You will grow labor and material business while ensuring customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, 5+ years of direct management, and 8–10+ years in service operations, with up to 50% travel. A bonus plan and competitive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, or equivalent work experience.
• Eight to ten or more years of progressively more responsible operations management experience in the service industry.
• Five or more years of direct management experience.
• Experience in HVAC, building controls, or a similar service delivery environment.
• High-level competence in written and verbal communication.
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to speak to large audiences.
• Ability to lead and direct diverse teams.
• Basic financial and accounting knowledge.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a Windows-based environment.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Previous sales or account management experience. (Nice to have)
• Industry networking experience within local business, technical, or community organizations. (Nice to have)
• Technical school training or a diploma in electronic or mechanical systems. (Nice to have)
• Five or more years in a service management role directing a similar service team. (Nice to have)

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of the truck-based service business and maintain consistent delivery systems across the territory.
• Manage branch service business plans, financial plans, revenue forecasts, and gross margin performance.
• Drive profitable growth through effective management of people, financial resources, and material assets.
• Develop strategic operating plans that align with service sales and account goals.
• Build and retain customer relationships through networking in the local business, governmental, and professional community.
• Review proposals, estimates, and account assignments with Sales to support accurate and effective service execution.
• Audit service operations, support contractual obligations, and take action to improve customer satisfaction and performance.
• Recruit, hire, coach, and retain service support staff while supporting performance reviews and development plans.
