Job summary

Air Comfort, Inc. in Ashburn, VA seeks an HVAC Technician III, Critical Systems, to lead installation, maintenance, and operation of mechanical systems in a high-availability data center.

You will mentor junior technicians and ensure compliance with contractual obligations to maintain reliability of essential infrastructure. In this senior role, you will oversee preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex issues, and manage building automation controls (DDC, pneumatic, VFD).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 7+ years of large commercial HVAC service experience; 8+ preferred.
• Completion of a basic air conditioning theory class.
• Proficiency with HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
• Experience with DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete client background checks or training.
• EPA Universal Certification preferred.
• Virginia Journeyman HVAC license preferred.
• OSHA certification preferred.
• Valid Virginia or Maryland driver’s license required.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance preferred.
• Travel up to 50% to job sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on HVAC equipment in a data center.
• Operate, maintain, and upgrade Building Automation Software and controls (DDC, pneumatic, VFD).
• Oversee HVAC air distribution systems (AHUs, FCUs, fans).
• Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual commitments for mechanical services.
• Provide guidance, leadership, and technical expertise to junior technicians.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours assignments.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to maintenance activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to support facility operations.
• Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
• Travel up to 50% to job sites as needed.

• Operate, maintain, and upgrade Building Automation Software and controls, including pneumatic, DDC, and variable frequency drive systems.
• Oversee HVAC air distribution systems, such as air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), fans, and related devices.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual commitments for mechanical services and maintenance.
• Provide guidance, leadership, and technical expertise to junior technicians, supporting their development and training.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours assignments as required.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to maintenance activities and system performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to support facility operations.
