Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a seasoned leader to head System Application Engineers supporting the construction sales organization. You will guide project execution, ensure profitability, and drive customer satisfaction across complex accounts and projects.

Location is flexible within US Central/Eastern time zones with occasional travel to the Southeast. You will mentor engineers, partner with sales and service teams, and uphold Johnson Controls’ safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Minimum of five years of operations management experience in Building Construction.
• Minimum of five years of direct project management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a team successfully.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach System Application Engineers supporting the construction sales team.
• Serve as a System Application Engineer for select accounts and projects based on branch needs.
• Ensure projects are executed within scope, on schedule, and with profitability.
• Provide training and guidance on project management practices and order execution.
• Support pre-sales activities including system configuration validation and pricing.
• Review submittals, estimates, proposals, and drawings to improve accuracy.
• Act as first escalation point for orders, commitments, delivery, and payments.
• Foster strong relationships with Account Executives, contractors, customers, and suppliers.
