Job summary

CoolSys - Refrigeration and HVAC Systems in Ashburn, VA, is seeking a Sales Engineer to bridge our engineering team and customers. You will generate leads, qualify prospects, and demonstrate products to drive technical sales opportunities.

You’ll apply your HVAC design knowledge and consultative selling skills across projects, collaborating with the sales team to craft tailored proposals, provide customer-focused demonstrations, and ensure successful deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of HVAC sales engineering, estimating, or commercial project experience with load calculations, ducts, piping, or controls.
• Deep understanding of HVAC system design and load calculations (Manual J/D).
• Proficiency with HVAC design software (AutoCAD, Carrier HAP) and MS Office/CRM.
• Strong consultative selling, proposal generation, negotiation, and closing abilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel (20–70%) and hold a valid driver’s license.
• HVAC certifications (NATE, LEED) a plus and knowledge of industry codes and energy programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the sales team by providing technical expertise in product demonstrations and proposals.
• Understand customer requirements and recommend solutions with detailed specs and use cases.
• Deliver technical presentations and product demos to help close opportunities.
• Collaborate with sales to create tailored proposals, quotes, and contracts.
• Develop relationships with customers and provide ongoing support.
• Tailor products to meet customer needs and demonstrate integration with customer systems.
• Train customers on product use and troubleshooting.
• Provide feedback to engineering to influence future offerings.
• Support post-sales installation and satisfaction efforts.
• Reflect CoolSys CARES values in all interactions.
