Job summary

Southland Industries, Inc. invites students to join its Internship and New College Graduate program in design engineering for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. You will assist the design team and work on real projects in a hands-on environment.

The program emphasizes exposure to senior engineers, CAD drafting, and calculations, with opportunities for advancement and potential full-time employment after completion.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree aligned with Southland needs (Mechanical Engineering or related field).
• Completion of Thermodynamics and HVAC Design coursework is highly desirable.
• Demonstrates strong work ethic and initiative.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineers in design tasks as required.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, and specifications for HVAC systems under supervision.
• Perform basic heating/cooling load calculations and equipment sizing.
• Coordinate design activities with project management, architects, and other trades.
• Review codes and field conditions to support design.
• Perform and check CAD drafting work.
