Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking motivated students for its Internship and New College Graduate program in Design Engineering for HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection. You will assist the design team and gain exposure to real projects under senior engineers.

You’ll learn to read mechanical and plumbing plans, perform basic calculations, and support project coordination from concept through completion. Paid internship/Co-op, with potential full-time opportunities, and exposure to company leadership

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree aligned with Southland needs: Mechanical Engineering.
• Completion of Thermodynamics and HVAC Design courses is highly desirable.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineers in design tasks.
• Produce basic deliverables: calculations, drawings, and specs for HVAC systems.
• Perform heating/cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, and piping/duct sizing.
• Coordinate design with project management, architects, and other trades.
• Support in checking CADD drafting work and code review.
