Job summary

Southland Industries is offering an Internship and New College Graduate program designed to immerse you in Design Engineering for the Design/Build HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection industry. Primary responsibility is to assist the design team in all aspects of our work.

You’ll gain hands-on experience, learn to read mechanical and plumbing plans, perform basic calculations, and collaborate with senior engineers and project teams, with potential for full-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree aligned with Southland needs.
• Completion of Thermodynamics and HVAC Design classes desirable.
• Strong work ethic and proactive attitude.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineers in design tasks.
• Perform basic calculations for heating, cooling loads, equipment sizing.
• Create drawings and specifications for HVAC systems under supervision.
• Coordinate design with project management and architects.
• Review codes and field conditions to support design.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
