Job summary

Southland Industries seeks motivated engineering students for its Internship and New College Graduate program. The role introduces candidates to Design Engineering for HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection, with hands-on tasks and opportunities to grow within a leading MEP firm.

You will assist senior engineers, perform basic calculations and drafting work, and coordinate with project teams to support project delivery. A strong work ethic and collaborative mindset are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Completion of Thermodynamics and HVAC Design coursework is desirable.
• Strong work ethic and initiative are essential.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineers in design tasks as required.
• Perform basic deliverables and products such as calculations, drawings, and specifications for HVAC systems under supervision.
• Perform basic calculations (heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, pipe/duct sizing, friction loss).
• Coordinate design activities with project management, architects, and other trades through completion.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
• Review applicable codes and field conditions to support design.
