Job summary

Southland Industries offers an internship and new college graduate program designed to immerse students in the Design Engineering field for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Interns assist the design team and gain exposure to calculations, drawings, and specifications under senior engineers' supervision.

You’ll learn to read mechanical and plumbing plans, develop technical writing and public speaking skills, and have opportunities for potential full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree aligned with Southland needs (Mechanical Engineering).
• Completion of Thermodynamics and HVAC Design classes is desirable.
• Strong work ethic and proactive attitude required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineers in design tasks.
• Perform calculations, drawings, and specifications for HVAC systems under supervision.
• Calculate heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, pipe/duct sizing, and friction loss.
• Coordinate design with project management, architects, and other trades.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
• Review codes and field conditions to support design.
