Job summary

R.E. Michel Company in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Counter Sales I to deliver fast, friendly service, enter orders the same day, and maintain accurate paperwork.

You will pull customer orders, collect payments, promote products, and assist with warehouse duties while upholding safety and company standards. This is a full-time, non-exempt role with on-site training and opportunities for advancement in HVACR products. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday with some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal communication with customers.
• Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers and descriptions.
• Basic math skills and understanding of markup vs gross margin.
• Proficient with using a computer and business software.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast and friendly customer service by following Customer First standards, in person or over the telephone.
• Greet customers as they enter the branch and maintain a positive attitude.
• Enter customer orders in the system the same day the order is received and ensure accuracy of paperwork.
• Pull customer orders from warehouse and load for delivery or pickup, following safe handling procedures.
• Prepare and complete paperwork: invoices, CODs, special orders, vendor orders, shipping/receiving documents.
• Process all payments and ensure all products leaving the branch are billed.
• Handle returns and warranties on the same day received.
• Maintain and restock self-service areas and display setups.
• Create/maintain branch displays aligning with corporate programs.
• Assist customers in locating products and provide delivery/backorder updates.
• Report safety issues to supervisor promptly.
• Assist with warehouse duties as needed (loading/unloading, sweeping, etc.).
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
