Job summary

R.E. Michel Company, LLC is seeking a Counter Sales 1 in Jackson, TN to provide friendly customer service, process orders, and support branch operations. You will greet customers, assist with product location, prepare invoices, and handle payments while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

The role includes warehouse duties, stocking, and assisting with deliveries as needed. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Branch Manager.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal communication with the general public and/or customers.
• Excellent attitude and interpersonal skills to service customers in the branch, on the telephone or at the delivery site.
• Proficiency operating a computer and Prophet 21.
• Basic math skills and understanding of markup vs gross margin.
• Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers and descriptions to identify items.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast and friendly customer service in person or on the phone.
• Greet customers as they enter the branch and display a positive attitude.
• Enter customer orders in the system the same day they are received.
• Pull orders from the warehouse and load into delivery truck or staging area.
• Prepare paperwork including invoices, CODs, purchase orders and shipping documents.
• Collect payment via cash or card and follow money handling procedures.
• Process returns and warranties the same day they are received.
• Maintain and restock self-service areas and end caps.
• Create branch displays supporting programs and market strengths.
• Use available resources to locate products and inform customers about delivery status.
• Report damage, safety issues and accidents immediately to supervisor.
• Promote sales items and stay informed about product information.
• Perform warehouse duties as needed including loading/unloading and housekeeping.
• Represent the company professionally in uniform and grooming standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
